WATCH: June 5 press conference about collapsed Davenport building

UPDATE: According to a news release from the City of Davenport, on Monday evening the Iowa Task Force 1 Urban Search and Rescue team demobilized their search, rescue and recovery efforts at 324 Main Street. USAR has determined that the building is clear of collapse victims and collapsed building material from the foundation of the building has been removed, the release says. EARLIER UPDATE: Police in Davenport say three bodies have been recovered and no other people are thought to be missing.

Dolly Parton Injured in Nashville Car Crash

Dolly Parton was one of three women who received medical treatment after a car accident in Nashville Monday morning (Oct. 21). The singer was the passenger in a vehicle that was struck by an SUV. The driver of the SUV failed to yield, police say. Parton's injuries were minor, the Tennessean reports. Illinois Representatives from both sides of the aisle co-sponsor bill to increase safety at correcti

A new Illinois bill that is being co-sponsored by candidates from both sides of the aisle is looking to add safety measures to correctional facilities across Illinois, including the East Moline Correctional Facility. Illinois House Bill 4743 was filed by Illinois Representative Gregg Johnson, and later co-sponsored by Illinois Representative Tony McCombie. The bill amends the unified code of corrections, allowing the Department of Corrections to establish an office of workplace safety.

N. Lamar Creel | Obituaries

N. Lamar Creel, 91, of Ovett passed away on Saturday, Aug. 27, 2022 at his home. He was born on Jan. 16, 1931, in Hollandale. When Lamar was at a young age, the Creel family moved from Hollandale back to Perry County, where they lived until they later moved to Jones County. Lamar graduated from Whitfield High School, where he played basketball and ultimately met Miss Rachel Sumrall, whom he married in 1953.
