Jane Fonda, 78, and Lily Tomlin, 76, are renowned for their acting abilities — but when it comes to playing friends, there’s no pretending required.
On Jan. 16, the close-knit pair attended Netflix’s TCA Day in Pasadena, Calif. to promote their hit comedy series Grace and Frankie, which will return for a second season this May.

The living legends spent the afternoon palling around — giggling, swapping stories and sharing memories. “They looked fantastic,” an eyewitness tells Closer. “They were playing off each other and making each other laugh with their jokes and banter.”

It’s a connection that has withstood the test of time. While it has taken 35 years for Lily and Jane — who famously costarred in the beloved 1980 comedy 9 to 5 — to reunite on-screen, their friendship has never faltered. “We do have a special bond,” says Jane. “We have a good time and a history together.”
